Isik Tuzuner shows her Paintings in DMO, Amsterdam

Paintings of Isik Tüzüner are hanging in the DMO -building in Amsterdam. This is a city government building on the Weesperstraat 101. The building is not accessible to the public. But through this blog post you can still see some works in the official meeting rooms. The works are exhibited in the context of the Kunstroute January to June 2012. Isik exhibits her artworks along with 4 other Turkish artists.

Light and energy

The building itself is pleasantly decorated inside. There are transparent meeting rooms. That fits perfectly with the work of Isik where light is an important theme. Other central themes are energy, alchemy, Amsterdam, water, other dimensions, love and reality. Isik combines multiple art forms in her work. She paints like a sculptor conjures up a form from a stone. In other words, Isik makes painted sculptures. This is mainly the case in the latter work in this short video. Isik composes works and uses various techniques, readymade objects and even previous works. In this video she starts with a poem written by herself, a thought from where her work resulted. Isik is always focused on the bigger story behind the artwork in this movie and indicates the many symbols used.
